Sorry it has been so long since my last pay but the New Year has been very busy and I'm just now settling in to do a few posts and I thought this beautiful party was a great place to start.
My "framily" was hosting a surprise 50th birthday and Karli, Kelsey and I were tasked with decorations. So in early January the girls came over armed with empty alcohol bottles, glitter, glue, tissue paper and anything else gold we could get our hands on.
First, we started cleaning the bottles of all the glue. TIP:To remove stubborn glue spray it with cooking oil and let it sit for a few minutes before washing it off.
We then spray paint the bottles gold and rose gold. We wanted to have 3 bottles per table that all looked different.
They looked great and at the party we ended up putting corks in some for table numbers and decorative twigs in others, we also secured 3 balloons to one of the bottles.
We also made these really cute pom poms that we used as well decor. They were super easy to do:
This site has some great photos on how to make them: http://blog.exclusivelyweddings.com/2012/04/22/how-to-make-tissue-paper-pom-poms/
Overall we thought the place looked great. We had a lot of fun setting it up and the decorations (I think) helped set the party mood.
Only downside is now I'm looking around my house for more stuff to spray paint and I'm looking for another party to bring the decorating crew together!
What parties are you planning for? Any party DIY tips?
